November 2012 Technique Blog Hop – Home Decor & Gifts

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop!  This month we are focusing on giving you some great home decor and holiday gift ideas as shown throughout the Autumn/Winter 2012 Idea Book.

This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.  So if you are starting here, just continue until you make your way back.  If you have already started, you should be coming from Rachel’s Blog.

Supplies used are all Close to My Heart: My Creations Blocks, Clementine Paper Packet, Bronze Glitter Glitz Gel, Opaques Mocha Adhesive Gems, Dimensional Elements Notable Alphabet, Cricut Art Philosophy Collection, and Chocolate cardstock.

These My Creation Blocks were surprisingly very simple to make.  They didn’t take a lot of time or a lot of supplies and you can use them for any occasion or make them into something like “home” or a person’s name that can be out all year round.  By using both sides of the patterned paper, I only used one sheet of Clementine paper for both sides of the blocks.  This is my favorite paper right now so I used it for the word HOME on one side and then FALL on the other.  The dimensional element letters were the perfect size as well and I love that they coordinate with the font on the Art Philosophy Circut cartridge.  I cut the Chocolate letters and attached to the dimensional elements for HOME.  On the FALL side, I inked the letters with Creme Brulee ink and outlined with Bronze Glitter Glitz Gel.  One tip to the perfectionist… I inked the edges of the dimensional elements, even the ones that I covered with paper.  It gives them more of a finished look.

I was considering making more of these blocks as I have time; now I can’t wait and plan to add them to my next order!  I think I will do one with the word JOY for Christmas and just stack the blocks.  Maybe another one similar to this with FAMILY on one side and EASTER on the other.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please continue onto Judy’s Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique!  Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping! There are so many things that you could use to create gifts for the holidays!  Check out all the My Creations by Close to My Heart or if you have a Cricut, the Cricut Artiste Collection is full of 3D items to create.
